University of Santa Croce conducts two days’ conference in Trivandrum

Trivandrum: The Pontifical University of Santa Croce in Rome conducts two days’ conference in Trivandrum for its Alumni students from India and to those especial invitees from Kerala. The conference on “Communicating faith in India: New trends in digital and audiovisual resources” is held in the Animation Centre of the Latin Archdiocese of Trivandrum, which has begun on 12 (today) and will conclude on 13 evening. The conference is inaugurated by Rev. Dr. Joshua Mar Ignathios, the Bishop of Mavelikara. Msgr. Eugin Perera the PRO of the Archdiocese of Trivandrum addressed the conference.

The School of Church Communication of University of Santa Croce is conducting this Alumni Conference for the first time in India. It is the words of Pope Francis enhanced the inspiration, that ‘in an age when technology is ever-evolving, Catholic news organizations must be willing to adapt to proclaim the Gospel to all effectively, and authentic servants of tradition are those who, while keeping memory alive, know how to discern the signs of the times and open new paths’. Having inspired by the heart thriving words of Holy Father the conference adapted its motives, i.e. to evangelise the world through encounters in the ‘digital world’ and ‘updating ourselves in the field’ of digital media communiation.

This two-day conference has 10 sessions, followed by five sessions each day. Among these 10 sessions, 2 sessions will be presentations by two alumni students on their respective topics, and 2 sessions by press and visual media persons from India. Other six sessions will be dealt by two professors from the School of Church Communications of the Pontifical University of Holy Cross, Rome.

It is a time of great joy of reunion remembering the legacy of Santa Croce said Prof. Jorge Milán.
